It is unbelievable the level of enthusiasm the guitarist brings to the table. Without a doubt, engaging a crowd in almost any setting comes naturally to a guy who is so enthusiastic his laughter can be heard from a few miles away. Born in Penang the happy go lucky guitarist believes A Flat Minor is a band formed by three individuals who share the same passion with brotherhood as the foundation.

What is music to the guitarist?

“Music is a driving force within my soul, my place of solace and the voice that my words can’t express”- Adrian Oyog, the guitarist of A Flat Minor.

A quiet kid to the lead vocal in a band, the Sarawak born singer perceives music as his escape and emotional outlet. Juggling the position of a math lecturer and the lead in a band has painted him as “the geeky math guy who does music”.

 

The dedicated musician grew up singing along to the songs on the radio with his siblings. Singing along to church hymns and learning the guitar from his sisters is what he recalls being his first ever memory of music.

The lead singer views the band as a family unit; to him it is a band of brothers.

Born in the isle of the betel nut, the young percussionist-cum-singer recalls his earliest memory of music being the time he first watched Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean music video. The simple rhythm, layered with a driving bassline and a synthesizer that synchronized to Jackson’s movements on tiles that lit up as he moved is what mesmerized him as a kid. This memory and the strong passion for music only grew into the aspiration to perform in public, which eventually happened with A Flat Minor.

 

According to him “Music is a language that one doesn’t need to know, to understand”. When asked what is A Flat Minor to him, the percussionist answered “A Flat Minor is a band that no matter how well you know, you won’t understand”.
